My Simple Life in New Zealand
It is fortunate that Adela kept a journal about her extremely busy pioneering life. She wrote about her experiences of building and living in Athenree Homestead, her work in the kitchen, the cultivation of her garden, growing vegetables, flowers and young trees. Also the hosting of important visitors and the training of house staff.
This journal was eventually published in 1908 and is a valuable contribution to our knowledge of early New Zealand pioneering history.
